Hardware: Why is the device battery not lasting a full shift?

FocusLite

The following article relates to the FocusLite ear defenders. There are a number of reasons why the battery might not be lasting for the full 10-12 specified time. Note, points 2-5 are only relevant if the battery has been fully charged (at least 3 hours).

Note: The details on this page are based on FocusLite v 1.0/2.0

  • It has not been fully charged - the battery will not last a full shift if it has not been fully charged, we recommend connecting the headset to the SmartHub to charge at the end of every shift until you next shift starts (if this is not possible then the headset must be charged for at least 3 hours)

  • It’s has been charged/used in very cold temperatures - battery performance is negatively affected by low temperatures, the FocusLite has been tested and should provide enough charge to last a full shift in temperatures down to -5°C.

  • It’s an older headset - total battery capacity degrades with time/charge-discharge cycles, the FocusLite battery has been tested and should provide charge to power the headset for up to 12 hours per charge for 2 years (providing the battery is fully charged).

  • The noise level is very high for an extensive period of time - the charge will be consumed quicker if the headset is used in very high noise.

  • The noise is of a certain frequency - the charge will be consumed quicker if the headset is used in a particular frequency that requires the hear-through functionality to work harder.
